The city is seen as a den where crime reigns supreme. London is launching more and more attacks, and the World\u2019s Fair is set to end in a diplomatic fiasco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Balthazar tries to reassure Her that their investigations are making progress and that they have a strong, honest ally within the police force. He takes the opportunity to provoke <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/william-hamilton-marquess-of-lothian\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3302\">the Marquess<\/a>, who flies into a frenzy and would certainly have diabolized the Hecata had it not been for <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/theo-bell\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3310\">Theo Bell<\/a>\u2019s forceful intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the Marquess was stake, the coterie confides privately to the Prince that they have Mages at their disposal. The Prince is not entirely reassured, but she trusts them enough to officially entrust them with the task of ridding the city of its most visible criminal elements, using the Mages to arm themselves against the English, and resolving cases of possession. No pressure. The other vampires are asked to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following day, in the middle of the Fair, in front of all the vampires in the region, Besse declares William Hamilton, Marquess of Lothian, guilty of breaking the laws of the Elyseum, and that the sentence is final death. She carried out the sentence with a clean stroke of her Claymore, reducing the Ventrue to a pile of ashes. She looked out at the assembly and reminded them that she is the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the beheading, <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/lucrezia-ursa-celsi\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3205\">Lucrezia<\/a> speaks quietly to Meical, telling him that a sacrifice to Seth of one of his ancient Egyptian spirits would be most appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now we need one \u2013 no, two \u2013 no, three action plans!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To reduce crime and win back a pawn:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Further boost <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/matthias-wheeler\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3246\">Matthias Wheeler<\/a>\u2019s public image and propel him to the head of the police force.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/francis-macdouglas\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3357\">Francis MacDouglas<\/a> to drive the poor away from the city centre by setting up a soup kitchen; he\u2019ll be grateful and will be under Cornie\u2019s control.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask the vampires to use their people to ensure the streets are safe at night.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For Mages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stop them from working on humans \u2013 even though <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/dr-beathan-murie\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3241\">Dr Murie<\/a> thinks that\u2019s a bad idea \u2013 and get them to manufacture weapons (why not both?!).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure they don\u2019t realise they\u2019re working for vampires.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They don\u2019t seem to cause any trouble as long as we don\u2019t stop them from experimenting and let them express their creativity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For the Spirits:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask the vampires to look for items that might help with the ritual. This might involve buying (or stealing) antiques from around the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find the perfect location for the ritual (let\u2019s leave that to <a href=\"https:\/\/msika.fr\/vampires\/persos\/grace\/\" data-type=\"persos\" data-id=\"3224\">Grace<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the Mages, the orders have been given; we\u2019ll have to see if the good Doctor steps in.<br>As for the Spirits, orders have been given there too, but it may take some time, especially if there are no further instructions or pressure.<br>On behalf of the Order, MacDouglas was contacted and agreed \u2013 still believing he was dealing with his mysterious benefactor \u2013 to launch a soup kitchen campaign. After all, it is a very Christian thing to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group also decides to step up the war on drugs \u2013 drugs that they themselves have created. They produce more of it and, one night, set off to stow it on a ship arriving from China (swimming through the putrid waters of the North Sea). A poor sailor lost his life whilst relieving himself at the wrong moment, and the drugs were hidden amongst the oolong tea. Meical took a nice hot bath when he got home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next day, thanks to an anonymous tip-off, Wheeler raided the port of Leith, arrested all the traffickers \u2013 who, not speaking English, found it very difficult to defend themselves \u2013 and confiscated kilos of drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s certainly a media success, but everyone is wondering who ordered these drugs \u2013 <strong>who is Edinburgh\u2019s drug lord?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The coterie is taking on heavy responsibilities and getting started on their new tasks.
